BudTrap

iPods are great, aren’t they? You can listen to your favorite music and watch videos on the go. But what about those pesky earphones? You know the ones I’m talking about – the tiny ear buds you constantly break, lose or curse because there’s not a sleek or stylish way to keep them and the iPod together without a mile of wire flopping around, tangling or coming loose. Rest easy, valued consumer, a new company and team of designers are working on an ingenious solution called BudTrap.

Dave Cross, Nick Bonich and Marcella Roybal founded BudTrap in early 2008 because of a problem they noticed with the latest tech devices. While iPods, iPhones and other multimedia devices deliver outstanding content, features and service, listening to the devices requires the annoying task of untangling ear buds. The group pitched their idea for the BudTrap to Aspira Limited and received the initial funding to perfect their idea. The team’s plan was to get the project on its feet and to the point where they could offer the BudTrap for free.

“After five months of development and further capital injections, the three founders built and freely offered BudTrap Beta, a device for the iPod Nano that removed the inefficiency and tediousness out of ear bud cable management. BudTrap Beta reduced what used to take 15 plus seconds (if not minutes) to unravel into something that could be done instantly, securely and simply.”

BudTrap just goes to show how a clever idea and a unique, simple design can make a world of difference. Head over to BudTrap to try one out for yourself and submit feedback on how the team can better its creation. Also, take a peek at this video demo which shows how the BudTrap works.
